It looked like a good day this morning, bright sunshine and the wind had dropped.
Here at Hest Bank, the seashore is only about 200 yards from the canal. So this morning the plan is to walk down to the shore and give the dogs a run.
When we stepped out of the boat we realised that the weather was colder today, as we approached the shore it was very much cooler, we had to climb a bridge to get over the rail track as a train was due and the barriers were down, on the road crossing. The dogs had a good run, so we returned to the boat, on the way we checked the bus time table and we found that we could catch a bus to Morecambe, on the hour every hour. We had just over half an hour to the next bus, we left the boat in time to catch it.
Morecambe was only three miles away on the bus, it took us around the bay all by the sea, the tide was part in, but there was plenty of sand/mud to see. We walked to the seafront and along the prom, we stopped for coffee and hot chocolate at a cafe on the front. Then we walked further, to inspect the statue of Eric Morecambe. Then we caught the bus, back to Hest Bank, then on to the boat. Then it was decided, that we would return to Morecambe on the bus, to do the shops, in the afternoon.
This proved to be very interesting for the men!!!!!
On this day in 1063 Harold of Wessex began to conquer Wales.
