26th May

We woke up to the sound of pouring rain, as it had been, most of the night.
We decided that we would wait, until the rain stopped, before we set off.
At 11.00 a.m. the rain paused, so we put our wet weather kit on and with the fishermans umbrella planted in its holder, to cover us on the back deck, we set off.
It wasn't long before the rain started again, the wind increased and made it one of the worst weather day's of the cruise. The umbrella did it's job and protected us well.
We did about four miles and arrived at Carnforth, the moorings were very full but we found one space and breasted up, we were only here to have lunch and shop at Tesco's so we managed.
We then moved on and cruised another three miles, to Hess Bank, yet another tug of war, trying to get a part of the boat into the bank.
We had the usual natter, tea and a bit of something stronger, to decide what we could do tomorrow.
As we were retracing our steps from yesterday and the appalling weather I didn't take any photographs.
7 miles, 0 locks.
On this day in 1798 Income Tax was introduced in Britain.
