15th April

Before we set sail, Graham went over to the chandlers below the lock, to see if they had a replacement light switch. When he returned he explained that he had not been very successful, as the building that was a chandlers was an antique dealers now. We left the mooring at 9.00 a.m. just as it started to rain and went strait into the first lock. It carried on raining as we cruised easily in a deep and wide canal, Got to Middlewitch 12.15 p.m., turned right and went up Kings lock, winded and moored up by the road, opposite the fish and chip shop. Both crews had a fish and chip lunch. Afterwards Graham I went to see if we could find a better place to moor over night below Kings lock, towards Anderton Then we went to Kings lock chandlers, for a few bits. We then moved the boats down the four locks and moored up 4.30 p.m. Had drinks in Acen and organised our new route, as we have discovered that we have an extra 11 days to cruise. So we shall be pulling in a trip to the Anderton Boat Lift and the River Weaver. 9 Locks, 10 Miles.
