A cold wintry August morning.
We were ready to go just before nine, extra clothes were at the ready as it was particularly cold and the wind was strong. After a short time it started raining, the waterproofs were donned.
After five miles, we arrived at Stoke Lock together with a very nice, big, cruiser, we all got in with plenty of room to spare, a very gentle assent of the lock.
We all three set off to Holme lock, in convoy. Just under three miles to get there, at one point we counted 79 white swans massed around an outfall. At Holme lock the gates were just opening as we arrived, not only is this lock big it is very deep so it took a long time to fill.
Then off we went to Meadow Lane Lock, to get back on to the canal in Nottingham, one more lock and we moored up, near Sainsbury's and finished for the day.
