10th June

Here we are at bridge nine, waiting for the BW men to arrive, to let us through, this large swing bridge. There was just our two boats that spent the night here, but the other four boats have joined us now.
At 9.30 am. the bridge was opened, holding back masses of traffic, we were expected to move through fast and close together, Graham took the lead with me following as No.2. We were expected to keep together and get to the next swing bridge, in 45 min's, where the BW men would open it. That we managed without incident, on we went towards the top of the locks, for the decent into Liverpool. We arrived at the locks at 12 noon, as expected, the BW men arrived later at 12.20, we had already entered the top lock, but had to wait for the men to arrive to use there special windlasses. We soon got through these locks and off we went, towards the new link & locks in the city centre. We managed the first lock without the BW men, the second lock we did all but, the sea gates which were chained and locked, so we had to wait about half an hour before he came to unlock the gates.
Then we sailed around the docks, twisting and turning until we arrived at our moorings, in beautiful sunshine. We filled up with water as we were both running near empty, then had a tea party on the pontoons. I then went over to the tourist office and bought electricity cards, came back and plugged the boats into the power posts.
We had done enough for the day so we went out for dinner.
