Sorry I missed this post out yesterday, but better late than never.
Being Saturday and my turn to collect the papers, I walked back to the garage, at the bottom of the locks to get the papers and some milk. We set off at 8.45 p.m. after we had waited for two hire boats to pass us and get in front. Shortly after starting we approached a lift bridge which was down, the crew from the hire boat operated it and we passed through it, followed by Autumn Years. We then passed quickly through two more lift bridges, by this time the hire boats had given up, so we took the lead of a flotilla of five boats. We did cross into Wales for a short time, and enjoyed several miles of doing nothing bar watching some amazing views and countryside pass by. The weather was good, dull and cold to start with, but brightened up mid. morning. We moored for the night before bridge 58 near Ellesmere, at 2.15 p.m. We then walked around the town.
13 miles, 0 locks, 5.5 hours
Did you know that on this day in 1982 Argentina invaded the Falkland Islands?
