No rush to get off this morning, we have until 1 p.m. to get to Keadby 3.5 miles away.
A cool morning as we set off at 9.15, lots of small weed on the surface of the water made it look like we were sailing through a lawn.
We had to pass through one swing bridge that we operated ourselves, a side sliding rail bridge operated by a signal man from his signal box, before we moored up before the Keadby lock.
We entered the lock at 12.30, after the lock keeper had swung a large road bridge, before the lock, we were then lowered down and exited the lock at 1.10 am. The tide was comming in and moving at a swift flow.
The 27.5 miles to Torksey took 4.5 hours, we then had to wait to go into Torksey lock as the tide was not sufficient for the boats to float over the cill of the lock and there were 14 boats waiting to descend. We eventually got up the lock after the second batch of boats exited the lock, then moored up at the top of the locks at about 6.30.
