19th July

The day started with sun and a calm river.
The river had risen about 12" so the ropes and fenders had to be adjusted. Today is the first time for a few days that we had morning coffee on the bank, but very soon after we had finished we had a huge downpour of rain that lasted about two hours.
We had decided to go for afternoon tea, at Betty's, a cafe in York that is famed for it's English teas', together with Mike & Sally, off NB. October House we set off at 3 pm. just as another downpour of rain started, but we were prepared with coats and umbrellas. We had to wait outside as there was a queue to get a table but we were soon seated inside and we all had a very nice Yorkshire Tea each. When we came to leave the heavens opened again, we waited for a short time then out we went in the rain, to get back to the boats.
The boats ropes were slackened again, as more rain is expected over night.

Hi John
The forecast I saw tonight suggested there may be floods in your area, hope it does not affect you.
We are still very dry here, it seems be raining all round us but not here. Garden lawns look really brown.
