12th July

Just after 8.30 a.m. we left our moorings for the night.
Yet another wide, deep navigation passing Castleford and on to Ferrybridge, passing through the flood lock and back on to the canal, the weather was getting a bit chilly as we bombed on to Bank Dole lock.
We then joined the River Aire again, a big wide river at this point, that meander all over the place, through Beal lock, that was all ready for us as a boater that we had met on the Lanaster trip had already prepared it and let us pass through.
We continued with the meandering and put another layer of clothes on to keep warm, the river was getting more and more covered with weed.
Getting to Selby just after 12.00.
We had lunch and went off to inspect Selby and do a bit of shopping, returned to the boats and had tea on the bank.
After that we all went to the lock to see today's release of boats going out on the to the river Ouse towards York. The flow of water was a bit rapid, when the boat came out of the lock into the main stream of the river, it was not necessary to turn the tiller, the force of the flow of water pushed the boat round to follow the stream.
14 miles, 2 locks.
