12th April

Ellsmere, it rained a lot in the night, but it was bright sunshine when we woke and very cold, the outside thermometer was 1.2c. Took the dogs for a run in a field, near, were we moored.

I did a final shopping trip to Tesco and set of on the boat at 8.45 a.m. Reversed out of the arm and set off. It was still quite cold, but I was kitted out for it.
A herd of Gongoozola's. A busy stretch of the canal, there are eight boats coming towards us!

We called down the Prees Branch, to Whixall Marine for diesel. We were a bit confused as there was no body around. Looking at the fuel pump we realised that it was self service and you paid by card, but you could only get it at a 60/40 split. Graham filled Autumn Years tank up.

We returned back to the main canal passing through two lift bridges, through five more lift bridges then on to Grindley Brook for the night.
