16 & 17th May.

Monday 16th. We all had a sluggish start this morning. The weather was still bad and is going to get worse. Had coffee and a meeting on Autumn Years, we decided that we would push on, towards Garstang and see how it went.
The canal appeared to be very low as we were struggling along on the bottom, the wind was blowing a gale, together with the poring rain, we decided to pull in after 3/4 miles and try to moor. We found two or three good looking moorings but could not get the boats into the bank. We eventually arrived at Bilsborrow, there are good mooring here but trying to find space for two boats was difficult, we eventually moored next to the services on a 24 hour mooring, breasted up with the boats and settled in for the night, with the hope that in the morning we would find boats moving off.
10 miles, 3.5 hours
On this day in 1928 the Flying Doctor Service was inaugurated

Tuesday 17th. Another day for R&R. Two boats moved off on the other side of the canal, so we moved over to moor the boats in the spaces, had a coffee meeting and decided to stay. Checked the engine oil, water and belts and topped up the batteries, on the boat, walked the dogs etc. The weather today was better but it still rained 50% of the time.
On this day in 1916 the "Daylight Saving Act" passed.
