4th April

Today's the day we should get to Llangollan.

We left Chirk at 8.30 a.m. well wrapped up as it was cold, minimum temperature last night down to 1c. Around the first bend and we were crusing along high up on the side of a hill. After less than a mile we reached the Chirk aqueduct, fantastic views down the valley and then into the the Chirk Tunnel. Four miles later we were on the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, this is amazing, we went over slowly and took lots of photos. After that we passed through Trevor, we were about four miles from Llangollen, this journey took a lot longer than we anticipated, because of the width and depth (or lack of) of the canal, we moored in the basin at Llangollen at 1 p.m. We all went for a walk to the Horse Shoe Falls, to see were the dam is, that feeds the water into the canal.

8 Miles, 0 locks, 4.5 hours.

On this day in 1968 Martin Luther King was assassinated
