28th April

Woke up a bit late 7.05 a.m. to warm hot sunshine, the outside temperature had dropped down to -3c during the night.

The duck and her new family were swimming around.

Set of at 9.00 a.m.

Had a lovely cruise able to relax on this easy trip.

Passed through Congleton and moored up on the embankment just past the aqueduct.

We are all ready for "The Wedding" tomorrow.

We had coffee and decided to walk in to Congleton and have a look at the shops and have lunch. The look at the shops was easy, however the "have lunch" proved a bit difficult.

We walked in and started looking for somewhere to eat, there was lots of eating places but nothing that we fancied, we eventually went in to one, walked right in and chose the table, sat down and looked at the menu and decided that it was a bit
like Weatherspoon's, rose and left. Earlier we had had a leaflet given to us, promoting a restaurant, we found it and went in.
First of all we couldn't find any staff, walking around, we eventually found a staff member. He told us to sit at a table, but he doubted that we could eat outside (which is where we wanted to be) we found a table, but only one chair at it, other staff came out of the kitchen and one of them found three more chairs and arranged them for us. The first guy then came to us to bring us the menu's, we pointed out that the nice shiny table
was covered in dust etc. he took the menus away whilst another guy cleaned the table, but nobody brought the menu's back, so I went up to the counter and got some. We then waited to place our order after some time a waiter arrived, asking what we would like to drink, Graham asked what beers they had, the waiter then went and brought the drinks list and walked off to clear a big table at the main course plates and ask them if they wanted deserts.
At that point we walked out and went and had coffee, then the girls went shopping and we caught the bus back. and we had a late lunch on the boats.

0 Locks, 3.5 miles.
