Finally we moved off the Devils Garden mooring, after the dogs had had a last chase around the field. The sun was shinning bright and it was getting warm. We set of at 9.0 a.m. towards Dutton lock, with the intention of taking on water, before before we entered the lock, however we caught up with a the futuristic narrow boat called "Phoenix, it was going a bit slower than us, so we slowed down and followed it to the lock. When we arrived at the lock "Phoenix pulled over to the water point, we decided to go in the lock and fill up when we go to Saltersford lock. When we had filled up and moved into the lock, I had a whistle from the water over heat alarm, on the control panel, so I turned the engine off. We breasted up with "Autumn Years" and Graham pulled us out and took us to moor up on the lock mooring. After the engine had cooled down I found that the water in the engine was very low. After topping up with water all was well, so we carried on to Northwich. The mooring were a bit full, but we managed to get "Acen" in and "Autumn Years" breasted up. The day turned out to be a very hot one.
2 locks, 4 hours, 9 miles.
On this day in 1889 Adolf Hitler was born.
