Thursday 17th
Expecting rain today, wet weather kit at ready for cruising. Moved of from Pangbourne 8.30, in fist lock 8.50 before the lock keeper is on duty, so we had to work the lock ourselves! Sunshine at the moment but cool, a bit like September. The scenery is stunning all along this stretch. Stopped at Shillingford for lunch. Telephoned the Environment Agency for an up-date on water & lock conditions, they reported that the water flow was strong and increasing with the overnight rain and more importantly that Osney lock (our last lock before we get off the Thames & back onto the canals) has overnight been put on red. So our plan is to get as far as we can before we stop for the night, so that we can get to Oxford by Friday night. Moored at Clifton Hampden for the night, 15 miles from Oxford.
